Dr. Sade Thompson, LMFT

President / Psychotherapist

Hello, my name is Sade (Sha-day). Yes, I’m named after the singer, and I sometimes meet people who are familiar with the singer that pronounce my name correctly. I am a Doctor of Psychology, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (116250), and the President of Hygieia Behavioral Health Foundation. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA and have worked as a psychotherapist all over LA from Palos Verdes to Inglewood, South LA, Beverly Hills, and in Orange County.

I lived in Santa Barbara while completing my bachelor’s degree at UC Santa Barbara, and earned my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California (USC).

I have worked with many populations, especially k-12 children, and families of all backgrounds. I have helped clients with a range of needs that has led my focus to Anxiety-related Disorders, and those within the LGBTQIA+ community that desire a knowledgeable and accepting therapist. Working in many different communities and populations has helped my growth as a psychotherapist.

My background, upbringing, and personal experiences have made me more culturally competent and aware than any training offered. My clients trust me more as they realize I am relatable, thus strengthening the relationship and therapeutic process.

I realized early on that a textbook approach didn’t work for all of my clients, so I meet them where they are and work at their pace. I take a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Client-Centered, and Solution-Focused approach depending on the needs of my client. I often find myself combining the three as the therapeutic relationship develops.

CBT helps to change cognitions or thoughts, and change behaviors. I believe in Unconditional Positive Regard, which is the basic acceptance and support of a person regardless of what the person says or does, especially in the context of Client-Centered Therapy. Lastly, Solution-Focused Therapy may be appropriate depending on one’s circumstances.

Unlike many traditional forms of therapy that analyze problems by taking a deep dive into past life experiences, Solution-Focused Therapy doesn’t dwell on the details of why or how things came to be. Solution-Focused Therapy addresses the here-and-now, concentrating on present-day solutions. Many people prefer this approach.

Emely Tobar, LCSW

Psychotherapist

Saludos! My name is Emely Tobar, my pronouns are She/Her/Ella, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California (LIC #121345). I am a dedicated Bilingual Spanish-speaking clinician committed to practicing within a decolonial therapy and abolitionist social work framework. As a first-gen from Los Angeles (Unceded territory of the Tongva, Tataviam, Serrano, Kizh, and Chumash Peoples) and the daughter of Central American immigrants, I bring a unique perspective to my practice, deeply understanding the complexities and challenges of navigating diverse social and cultural landscapes.

Being the daughter of Central American immigrants, I have a deep appreciation for the cultural richness and resilience inherent in immigrant communities. My family’s experiences have shaped my understanding of the unique challenges faced by immigrants and firstgeneration individuals, inspiring my commitment to breaking down barriers and advocating for systemic change. Growing up and working in a vibrant and diverse community, I witnessed firsthand the profound impact of systemic inequalities and the resilience of those who face them. These experiences, coupled with my own family’s journey, have fueled my passion for advocating for marginalized voices and ensuring that every individual feels seen, heard, and valued in therapy.

With 10 years of experience in the mental health field, I have had the privilege of working extensively with children K-12,TAY, BIPOC, and immigrant communities. My background also includes experience in case management, crisis intervention, community organizing, and counseling. As well as working with individuals (but not limited to) who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, stress/burnout, academic stress, immigration issues, etc.  I recognize the pervasive impact these challenges can have on all aspects of life, particularly within marginalized communities.

In my practice, I employ a trauma-informed approach that prioritizes healing from the effects of systemic oppression. My work is grounded in empathy, respect, and a steadfast commitment to creating a safe and inclusive space for all clients. I strive to deconstruct traditional power dynamics in therapy, honoring the diverse identities and experiences of my clients. My approach is holistic and client-centered, emphasizing empowerment and collaboration in the healing journey. Understanding the importance of intersectionality, I am dedicated to addressing issues related to race, gender, sexuality, and socioeconomic status.

My practice is rooted in abolitionist principles, seeking to dismantle oppressive systems and envisioning a world where mental health care is accessible, equitable, and affirming for all. As a first-gen, I am acutely aware of the barriers that many face in accessing mental health resources. I am committed to making therapy accessible and affirming for everyone. I look forward to working together with my clients to foster healing, growth, and empowerment.

Morgan Pinedo, APCC

Associate Professional Clinical Counselor & PPS

Hello! My name is Morgan Pinedo, and I’m an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (10152), with a Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) credential. As a dedicated clinician, I practice from a humanistic, client-centered framework, focusing on creating unique and individualized solutions for each person I work with. My approach is grounded in understanding and addressing the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—to support lasting and meaningful change. For younger children aged 3 to 12 years, I utilize a child-centered, non-directive play-based approach. This method enables children to express themselves and explore their feelings in the most natural and comfortable way—through play.

I started my professional journey after earning my Master’s Degree in Counseling from Chapman University, where I also obtained my Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) credential. Since 2021, I have worked as an associate in a community practice and as a mental health counselor in several school districts in South Orange County. While my primary focus is not school-based therapy, I greatly enjoy working with our youngest generation. With a passion for creative arts and hands-on work, I like to incorporate creative elements into my sessions to help both children and adults foster deep personal growth and transformation. I have experience treating mood disorders, ADHD, anxiety, depression, low motivation, life changes and transitions, and students with 504/IEP plans. I take pride in working collaboratively with families and parents to provide resources and psychoeducation to support each client’s unique needs.

I have two Bachelor’s Degrees in Elementary Education and Psychology from the University of St. Thomas (UST). I earned my Masters Degree in Counseling and Psychological Services at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota (SMUMN). I have a vast amount of experience working with children and families. I desire to expand my clinical counseling by also working with adults, empowering others to thrive and combat challenges that greatly impact their well-being.

My previous experiences inspired me to help individuals develop a positive self-identity and cultivate positive relationships to promote growth and healing. I strive to create opportunities to build meaningful relationships that instill a sense of belonging. Overall, I aim to create an environment in which people feel safe, valued, and free to be themselves. I strongly believe that therapy shouldn’t be a one-size-fits-all approach; therefore, I utilize a strengths-based model with a person-centered approach.

Using these modalities, clients create personalized goals that are most meaningful and relevant to them. Furthermore, I work collaboratively with clients to move toward effective and lasting change. Lisa King, AMFT

Hello, my name is Lisa King. I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist raised in Los Angeles, California. Over the years, I have worked in diverse communities including Hawthorne, Inglewood, South Los Angeles, and Cerritos, gaining valuable experience that shapes my therapeutic approach.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in social work from California State University, Los Angeles in 2010 and earned my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Phoenix. I have worked with the adult population specializing in substance abuse with clients who are dual diagnosed with schizophrenia, anxiety, bipolar, and depression.

I build a meaningful therapeutic relationship with my clients by actively listening with an empathetic ear where they can feel safe and be heard. I recognize that all clients are unique, so depending on the client, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) where the client develops the skill to make the connection that their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors intertwine.

I also use Person-Centered and Solution Focused modalities. Person-Centered therapy allows the therapeutic alliance to strengthen as the environment is non-judgmental and the clients can freely express and explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Lastly, I use Solution-Focused therapy. This approach helps clients concentrate on what they can do rather than what they cannot, promoting autonomy and a sense of self-efficacy.

My clients see me as a relatable clinician, which helps build trust and foster a supportive therapeutic environment, and clients meet their goals and develop new ways to positively navigate the complexity of life.

Richard Chong, AMFT

Greetings. My name is Richard Chong, and I’m an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT153574). I graduated with a Master’s in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. As a counselor, I approach my work through a client-centered and humanistic lens, collaborating with clients on their journey of self-discovery, healing, and growth. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all, so collaborating and tailoring therapy to my client’s preferences is part of the journey.

Sometimes, the narrative and noise that life gives us can take over and become the driver of behaviors and thoughts. Understanding the complexity and impact one’s range of identities can have on one’s life can be a step towards retaking the narrative and empowering one’s story. Therapy can be a way to regain a sense of self, so you can be the driver of your path and story.

Some of the tools and experiences I can bring to the therapeutic relationship include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness, Parts work, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), grounding exercise, and somatic works. Some of my experiences include working with ADHD, anxiety, grief, depression, and trauma. My goal is to provide a positive therapeutic experience so clients may be informed and empowered in the direction of their journey.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development from California State University of Long Beach and earned my Master’s degree in Marital and Family Therapy from Alliant International University.

My professional life began at Western Youth Services in Santa Ana providing therapeutic services to children, teens and families of Hispanic backgrounds who experienced anxiety, depression, ADHD, life transitions and changes, and trauma. My experience expanded at Kaiser Permanente where I provided services to many different populations and communities across the lifespan.

As a first-generation Latina therapist, I understand the unique challenges that come with navigating both cultural identity and mental health. Having witnessed firsthand the stigma surrounding mental health within the Latinx community, I am deeply passionate about providing culturally affirming care. My approach integrates modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy, while always keeping in mind that there is no “one-size-fits-all” solution.

With a client-centered approach, I tailor therapeutic techniques to meet the unique needs of each individual, empowering them to overcome challenges and develop coping strategies for long term well-being. I believe in creating a safe, collaborative environment where individuals can explore their strengths and work through their challenges with confidence. My goal is to make each individual feel seen, validated, and empowered on their journey toward healing.
